What does inclusion mean to us?
Inclusion is creating opportunities and providing an environment that embraces diversity and ensures equitable participation. It goes beyond mere physical presence; and requires actively involving our company members in all aspects of the theatre experience, from auditions and rehearsals to performances and behind-the-scenes roles.
Our key aspects of inclusion include:
Accessibility, Adaptation, and Accommodations: Advocating for and providing the necessary resources such as ramps, sign language interpreters, and other technologies to support various needs. Making the required adaptations and accommodations that support our performers. This may include modifying scripts, providing assistive technology, or adjusting rehearsal schedules.
Supportive Culture: Promoting understanding, empathy, and teamwork among all members of the company. This is done by fostering a culture of acceptance and respect where all creative contributions are valued.
Education and Awareness: Giving performers the opportunity to educate other company members and the wider community about different disabilities, their challenges, and the importance of inclusive practices.
Representation: Ensuring that all company members are represented authentically in the context of the performances.
Collaboration: Encouraging collaboration among our performers and providing equitable opportunities to achieve this. This approach enhances the quality of the production and fosters a sense of unity and shared achievement.
